Let the baking begin

Well, I have decided the direction I want to go with "make stuff and sell it." I plan to do farmers markets and private orders. I am going to sell food items staying within the Texas cottage food laws for now. I'm going to focus on baked goods, canned goods, and mixes.

I am jumping in head first and I'm going to spend the next couple weeks putting some of my items on the site and selling to local folks for now.

I woke up with the intention of making a lemon Bundt cake yesterday, it's one of my favorites. It's funny how foods have memories and a lemon Bundt cake reminds me of my Aunt Gerri. She had a cake stand on her counter and that lemon cake was so pretty sitting in there, I had to eat a piece. I was a picky child and I remember thinking it would be better if it was chocolate... But that first bite of lemon icing and it stole my heart.

I then I saw the peaches on the counter Ralph bought and I knew I needed to make a peach upside down cake. Lol another aunt inspired this one, Aunt Carolyn has been showing pineapple upside down cakes on Facebook. Another of my favorites!

So... I dug out my peach upside down cake recipe and whipped one up. yall, this cake is, well, was fabulous. It's vanilla pound cake like base with the peaches and the ooey gooey buttery stuff on top. I have to admit I'm not a fan of peaches but I like them on this cake. Their texture is lighter.

I am going to make another one today and do a few tweeks. I want more of the ooey gooey stuff on top! I did post pictures on Facebook and have two people who want one already. So.. I think I'm going in the right direction!

This one is gone. I cut a big piece to take photos of and promptly ate it once I finished. Then Ralph and Caty got home, they had large slices with ice cream. And the two boys, W and T that live here finished it off!

Peach upside down cake

The plan is to bake all of the cakes that I plan to make and take pictures... Lol... We are gonna gain some weight if we continue to wipe them out like we did yesterday!

Rehersal went a little better last night. We just have two more before our first performance... Yikes!

Goals for the day:

-Make another peach upside down cake

-rehearse my lines

-prepare to go get pigs tomorrow!
