Doing it the hard way

So a few months ago a friend and neighbor inspired me to think of selling food again. I say again because we did have a restaurant a few seasons ago..and although we loved the people and we made awesome pizza. We did not love being tied to the store 16 hours a day, and employees.. ugh.
So I have been playing with the idea, making some things I enjoy making, making some things I could be better at making... (Darn tortillas!) Researching to make sure what I want to make can be made and sold as a cottage business (basically not in a commercial kitchen)
What it boils down to is I like making things the hard way. I like canning my own food and making my own bread. I would rather make a roux and start there than with a can of cream of soup. I like mixing dough and rolling out pasta.

There is no comparison between homemade pillowy pasta that sauce clings to than the slick store bought noodles. And bread, I forget what bread is supposed to taste and feel like until I cut into a homemade loaf.
I checked out our local hemphill farmers market and I am going to start there. I've picked a few of my favorite things to make that others dont have (there are a lot of bakers and canners there). In the spring we will add in fresh produce that we grow.
I am shooting for November 11th as my first date at the market.... So stay tuned....
